FotoSketcher - Free Software for beautiful art works
Software that turns your photos into art by applying stylised effects is usually expensive, complicated or both.
Although there are now AI tools that transform your pictures at the click of a button, they tend to be resource-intensive and limit the number or quality of images you can convert.
FotoSketcher avoids all these problems, offering a free, simple and unlimited way to make ordinary photos look like oil paintings watercolours or pencil sketches. The program takes care of all the complex processing, letting you create stunning results with minimal effort.
The FotoSketcher interface is split into two, with the left side showing your source image and the right offering a preview of the edited picture based on your chosen filters and effects. Click the ‘Drawing parameters’ (paint palette) button to choose from a wide range of pencil, paint and ink effects, as well as interesting options such as Cartoon and ‘Vintage photo’.
You can customize each effect to achieve the desired results – for example, by selecting the minimum size of brush strokes, the precision of oil pastels and the length of pencil lines. If you want to experiment, you can try using a manual brush to apply an effect to just a portion of your photo.
The latest version of FotoSketcher gives its layout a more modern feel and significantly improves its ‘No effect’ option. Previously, this simply copied the left-hand image to the right-hand side, so you could apply non-creative tweaks such as adding a frame, changing the canvas texture and inserting text.
Now it lets you modify the luminosity, contrast, colour saturation, sharpness and vividness of the source photo, as you can in a standard image editor. FotoSketcher has also fixed a bug that could cause it to crash when processing pictures.
When you install FotoSketcher, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show a security warning. The program is completely safe to use, so just click ‘More info’ then ‘Run anyway’.
